Simply log in to desktop apps with our new Quick Access feature

Our new feature is here! With Quick Access, you can now easily log in to desktop apps and quickly use your login and credit card details. In this article, we go into detail and tell you where you can find Quick Access, how to use it and where you can change the shortcut.

Which browsers support Quick Access?

Quick Access is available in Chrome and Edge as well as all Chrome-based browsers. The feature also works if the browser is only open in the background.

In Firefox, Quick Access is limited: The feature has full functionality, but can only be opened with the keyboard shortcut when the browser is actively selected.

Quick Access is not available in Safari. Due to technical limitations, we are unfortunately unable to implement the feature for the Safari browser.

Where can I find the search window?

Quick Access is part of the browser extension, so all you need is an open browser in the background to use the feature.

a.) To open the Quick Access search window, you must first have the corresponding browser open.

b.) Next, press the key combination:

  • Ctrl + Shift + 1 on Windows
  • Cmd + Shift + 1 on MacOS

You can always use this shortcut to open Quick Access if you have the “Global” setting enabled in your browser for this shortcut.

How do I use the shortcut?

All logins that are available on your browser can also be accessed via the Quick Access. The window itself offers 3 functions:

a.) The search - Here you can enter the login name, a specific email address or the website for which you need or have saved the login. If you enter just a few letters, you will be shown a selection of suitable logins, if possible

b.) The login selection - All logins that come into question for your search are listed here. You can make a selection using either the mouse or the arrow keys

c.) The login options - You can carry out the described action using the keyboard shortcut or by clicking on the shortcut with the mouse.

With quick access, you can now finally log in to your desktop apps without having to open the web app. Simply press the keyboard shortcut and you can simply copy and paste your data. And this also works for credit card credentials.

How do I change the key combination for opening?

If you are already using the shortcut for something else or would like to use a different one in general, that can be done easily. As the shortcut is part of the browser extension, you can change it in the browser settings.

On the Quick Access page in the web app settings, you will find a direct link to this option.

Important for Chrome and Edge: Make sure that "Global" is still displayed in the field on the right after changing the shortcut. This is the only way you can open the Quick Access even if the browser is only open in the background.

You now have all the important information about our quick access. Have fun logging in quickly, regardless of the service!
